About the Role
The Senior Lawyer, Rolling Stock Development, sits within the Operations and Commercial Team in DTP Legal and is responsible for providing advice on a wide range of complex legal issues, with a focus on matters relating to the development and delivery of rolling stock and other transport projects. The Senior Lawyer, Rolling Stock Development, is expected to contribute to the delivery of outstanding client service and timely, clear and pragmatic legal advice and related services by DTP Legal.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities 
Join the Department of Transport and Planning as a Senior Lawyer, Rolling Stock Development. Bring your expertise in commercial law to advise on the development and delivery of rolling stock and transport projects, and construction and property matters. You'll draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documentation. This role will require you to forge partnerships with stakeholders to facilitate project delivery and the department’s objectives. A key part of this role is to identify and escalate as necessary potential legal risk and support implementation of risk mitigation strategies. This role reports to DTP Legal and offers an opportunity to contribute to vital transport initiatives. Apply your legal acumen to shape the future of transport infrastructure.

Key Selection Criteria 


• Demonstrated experience providing legal advice on commercial law matters to effectively manage legal risk for the department. 
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assist in the development, management and implementation of practical solutions to commercial law issues. 
•Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively and work collaboratively with colleagues, managers and key stakeholders. 
• Established communication, organisation and negotiation skills with ability to work within tight and often conflicting deadlines.


Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory 

•    Admitted, or eligible to be admitted, as a lawyer in Victoria.
