THE ROLE

You will be responsible for the facilitation of Out of Home Care planning and care options for children within the Child Protection program.  Having a clear understanding of the placement requirements of children and young people, negotiation skills and ability to work with key internal and external stakeholders is essential to ensure service delivery for children in Out of Home Care in Southern Melbourne and Bayside Peninsula Area.The role of a Senior Placement Coordinator is to plan and co-ordinate responses for Out of Home Care for statutory Child Protection clients in line with the Best Interests Practice Framework, provide monitoring and support to existing placements to ensure optimum placement planning, and take the lead in recommending and planning future directions in Out of Home Care.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

  • Undertake and manage active placement referrals on behalf of Child Protection for children who need to be placed in Out of Home Care.
  • Liaise and work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the resolution of complex client and placement issues.
  • Liaison, negotiation and facilitation with Child Protection and Community Service Organisations to ascertain placements based on child(s) needs.  This often requires an urgent response
