About the Role

The Senior Planner provides critical ‘whole of transport’ advice and expertise to deliver improved transport outcomes. This includes:

  • Provision and coordination of technical planning advice to support DTP objectives, projects and statutory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of state-wide guidelines, best practice, and training to ensure that DTP officers are making consistent and authoritative decisions state-wide.
  • Support in the coordination of matters before VCAT, Planning Panels or Advisory Committees.
  • Lead reform and change processes that deliver improved outcomes and administrative efficiency in relation to strategic planning/place planning decision-making.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

  • Provision and coordination of technical planning advice to support transport objectives, projects and statutory decision making.
  • Preparation of state-wide guidelines, best practice, and training to ensure that officers are making consistent and authoritative decisions state-wide.
  • Coordination of matters before VCAT, Planning Panels and Advisory Committees and where required, support or lead representation on behalf of the Head, Transport for Victoria.
  • Assist in reform and change processes that deliver improved outcomes and administrative efficiency in relation to strategic planning decision-making; and
  • Effectively plan, organise, and manage resources, to deliver an agreed scope of work, within an agreed timeframe and budget, to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Support the development of strong relationships and liaise closely with relevant planning regulators and stakeholders, including Transport Portfolio entities and municipal councils.
