About the role: 

The role will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders including the Division, sector partners, Interim Regional Bodies (and later Regional Boards) and a range of program and policy areas within the department.The role will support broader system planning, analysis and decision support activities that enable thedelivery of key reforms to the mental health and wellbeing system.

How you'll make a difference:

The Senior Planning Officer will identify and manage a wide variety of development and planning strategies and processes for the System Planning unit to support the delivery of Statewide and Regional mental health and wellbeing plans.

Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • In addition to those set out below effectively supporting the development of the Statewide and Regional service and capital plans, by: 

    • Providing high quality analysis, authoritative advice and sound recommendations based on consistent evidence-based approaches to planning for the future mental health and wellbeing system.  
    • Monitoring and reporting on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions. 
    • Representing the department on key governance and stakeholder committees and groups concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives and contribute to relevant committee and governance processes. 
    • Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met. 
    • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the department and with key external stakeholders. 
    • Supporting cross-functional engagement on matters relating to system planning to enable delivery of departmental policies and reforms. 
  • Provide high quality business intelligence, authoritative advice and sound recommendations to senior management and government based on comprehensive research.
  • Coordinate and develop complex briefing products relating to the division's work program and health system pressures for Cabinet, Ministerial, senior departmental executive and executive sector stakeholders. 
  • Support information flow and coordination across the acute health sector and the Department.
  • Forge strong connections across the department and health sector to facilitate a partnership approach. 
  • Work with senior management to set and achieve key performance indicators and standards. 
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
