An exciting opportunity exists for a bright, highly motivated, dynamic and publicly minded professional to join the Governance Branch as Senior Policy Officer in the Parliamentary Workplace Standards and Integrity Commission Establishment project team at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.

The Branch's Early establishment work program provides an opportunity to work at the centre of government supporting early establishment activities for the implementation and rapid transition to service delivery of the Parliamentary Workplace Standards and Integrity Commission (Commission). These activities relate, broadly, to organisational design, corporate support and drafting policies that govern internal operations. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant policy contribution in establishing a new integrity commission with oversight of parliamentary workplace standards.

As a Senior Policy Officer in Governance Branch, you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic policy environment, in a small team among supportive and engaged peers, and across the broader Victorian Public Sector. Ideally, you will have a sound understanding and demonstrated experience in public policy, governance or law. In addition, you will have excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills. Governance Branch provides a positive, supportive culture and a work environment that enables high performance.

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant policy contribution in establishing a new integrity commission with oversight of parliamentary workplace standards.

About you

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • Demonstrated policy experience including knowing where and how to find information and understanding government processes, and the role of Parliament, Ministers, and the public service.
  • Highly developed planning and organising skills, including the ability to set clearly defined objectives and priorities and operate accordingly.
  • Highly developed influence, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proven resilience and persevering to achieve goals in the face of obstacles and setbacks.
  • Strong flexibility and adaptability, including readily adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.
