The Senior Policy Officer, Waterway Health works across the Waterway Programs branch, and in partnership with our stakeholders, to contribute to the development and implementation of the state policy framework for waterway management (including progress reporting), as outlined in the Victorian Waterway Management Strategy.

This role represents an exciting opportunity to join a flexible and collaborative team where the successful candidate will contribute to the development and implementation of new waterway policy, including the development of regional waterway strategies.  This position proactively identifies and resolves policy issues, is required to operate with sound judgement and discretion, sustain high levels of drive and commitment, and will be required to operate under limited supervision.

We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic, self-driven and experienced in the field of waterway and catchment management and is passionate about working with a range of partners and stakeholders, including catchment management authorities and Traditional Owners.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Essential – a degree qualification or higher, preferably in science, environmental engineering, natural resource management, environmental law, or a relevant equivalent
  • Essential – demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's water resource management framework.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
