  • Location: Negotiable-Flexible (statewide) Lead project coordination across the regions to meet business objectives and priorities and to deliver high quality policy and advisory expertise.

The Strategic Fuel Breaks and Mechanical works program received significant investment that will support community and asset protection and provide strategic advantage for planned burning and fire control operations in the context of a rapidly changing climate.

The Senior Project Management Officer will support the Senior Program Manager of the Strategic Fuel Breaks (SFB) and Mechanical Works program and be responsible for leading work across departmental groups, assisting coordination of SFB priorities. This includes the translation of policy, strategy and the department's legislative accountabilities to support operational program delivery.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • A qualification in natural or environmental science, agile project management or public policy would be an advantage.
  • Experience in process management and strong monitoring and evaluation skills would also be an advantage (but not mandatory).

This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2022. The successful applicant may request to work from any DELWP office location, subject to negotiation and COVID-Safe transitional arrangement.

The department plays a major role in Victoria's emergency response activities, through an all-hazards, all-emergencies approach. Staff undertaking these roles have been quarantined from performing emergency management roles and participation in planned burning operations.
