About the Role

We have Full-Time opportunities available for Senior Project Managers looking to get their teeth stuck into a high-profile program of work. Development Victoria have a highly attractive pipeline of high profile public and sporting projects you do not want to miss out on.

As a Senior Project Manager you are responsible for leading and managing a small team of highly skilled professionals, including Development Victoria staff, contractors and consultants, to ensure that all relevant aspects of a project are effectively scoped, and all technical and commercial issues are identified, assessed and managed in terms of project output.  

Your key accountabilities will include;

  • Provide proactive and authoritative strategic advice to Government, both verbally and through clear and concise written project reports and briefs. 
  • Provide high level authoritive advice in relation to the different methods of procurement and project management. 
  • Ensure that complex project schedules, scope, cost plans, risk assessments and management plans are developed and maintained to aid in the achievement of project success. . 
  • Manage procurement processes in accordance with the probity standards and relevant government policies and monitor and manage contractor and consultant performance including contract administration. 
  • Foster and develop relationships with key project stakeholders at senior levels across all sectors of government and industry and have demonstrated ability to influence. 
  • Contribute to a team culture that seeks to foster autonomy and provides an environment where ideas can be tabled, discussed and challenged openly to achieve the best project outcomes. 

Desired Skills and Experience

About You 

  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in project management on complex, large-scale projects, with proven skills in managing a small team to deliver project outcomes within specific timelines.
  • Provide multiple examples where you have established and lead a high performing team internally & externally.   
  • Ability to provide confident advice of construction contracts, contract administration processes, commercial analysis and cost management. 
  • You have a reputation for your knowledge of various project management principles and design management experience. 
  • You'll bring your proven track record in managing multiple complex stakeholder relationships with energy, confidence and ability to influence. 
  • You appreciate the complexities of the public sector environment together with a sound understanding of the requirement to comply with government policies and processes. 
  • Technical and commercial understanding of event overlay or the delivery of projects that facilitated event overlay for major sporting events would be highly regarded. 
  • Ability to travel to regional Victoria on occasion as required. 
  • Experience in site management/coordination would be well regarded. 
  • Tertiary qualification, particularly in  Construction Management/Project Management/Engineering/Architecture/Legal, would be highly regarded.
