Provide professional expertise to ensure the delivery of the Revitalising Central Geelong Action Plan Laneways Breakthrough project within time, scope, budget and quality requirements

An exciting opportunity exists to join a multidisciplinary team delivering real change in Geelong. Joining this State Government and City of Greater Geelong partnership will enable the successful applicant to work across government sectors in a collaboration on infrastructure and policy projects. The role involves seeing through the delivery of public ream works to completion, working closely with stakeholders on co-design and delivery, managing contractors and communicating effectively within the programs governance structure.  

The Senior Project Officer provides high quality advice and service to the Minister for Planning, the Geelong Authority and the Revitalising Central Geelong Steering Committee in relation to planning, development and land use matters relating to the Revitalising Central Geelong Action Plan. The Senior Project Officer will lead and provide high level advice on complex planning, infrastructure delivery and project governance as an integral part of the Revitalising Central Geelong Partnership Team which is responsible for the implementation of the Revitalising Central Geelong Action Plan. The successful candidate will project manage urban renewal initiatives within central Geelong where DELWP is the delivery lead.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification(s) including qualification(s) in urban design, civil engineering, project management or similar is desirable.
  • Experience managing complex and politically sensitive projects in a government context is required.
  • Knowledge of key stakeholders in the Geelong region and the Victorian planning system is preferred.
  • Experience in and knowledge of urban infrastructure project management through design, development to practical completion within a metropolitan or regional context in Victoria. Knowledge of State and Local Government policies and strategies on urban renewal, land use planning and legislation is desired.

This is a fixed term position available until 31 December 2022. The location for this position is Negotiable.
