The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Senior Project Officer to provide a critical role in the Stolen Generations Reparations Unit.
This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
About the business unit
The Aboriginal Justice Group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) is committed to driving systemic change in the justice system, to connect, support and deliver better outcomes for the Aboriginal community. The group works in partnership with Traditional Owners and the Victorian Aboriginal community to embed the principles of self-determination in the justice sector.
The SGRU was established to implement the Reparations Package to help address the trauma and suffering caused by the forced removal of Aboriginal children from their families, culture and Country. The Senior Project Officer will be responsible for leading and developing key internal business processes and systems and support the Senior Manager to ensure the effective delivery of the Reparations Package.
About the role
As the Senior Project Officer, you will report to and work collaboratively with the Senior Manager to establish and manage the enabling infrastructure that supports the delivery of the Reparations Package, including evaluating the operation of the Reparations Package and developing procedures and guidelines. You will also liaise with key internal and external Stakeholders on behalf of the SGRU to ensure timely and effective delivery of the Reparations Package and manage key project, policy and strategic responses, as required.
