Position Summary:

This position in the Water Unit sits within the Health Protection Branch of the Department of Health. The Water Unit aims to protect people from chemical and microbial hazards in water and seeks to improve the health of Victorians by administering the Safe Drinking Water Act 2003, the Health (Fluoridation) Act 1973, and provisions relating to aquatic facilities under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008. The position provides project management expertise and expert advice on the development and review of policy, strategies and programs relating to a range of water-related health matters including private drinking water supplies in vulnerable community settings. This role manages the extension of water fluoridation to rural and regional Victoria in line with Victorian Government policy. It entails extensive collaboration with diverse partners, stakeholders and staff. It requires conceptual, planning, technical, negotiation and interpersonal skills, as well as highly developed skills in the design, management and evaluation of complex projects. The role also involves managing projects in relation to private drinking water, recreational water, harmful algal blooms and incident management.
