As Senior Project Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • supporting the coronial portfolio through the provision of high-quality project and program management support across the Child Protection program including all aspects of planning, governance, reporting and stakeholder management in responding to requests from the Coroners Court of Victoria.
  • assisting with implementation of OPP's Strategic Plan, including leading or supporting multi-disciplinary projects, providing strategic advice to the OPP executive leadership team, and maintaining OPP's internal governance arrangements.

The role may also coordinate portfolio responses and helps maintain branch operations (i.e., budget, reporting, governance and risk management responsibilities) where required.

The job operates within a dynamic environment that requires flexibility, the capacity to exercise sound judgement and the ability to take effective, timely action. The role requires expert knowledge regarding Child Protection practice in Victoria.


  • Provide authoritative advice and professional opinions and expertise to practitioners and professionals in other disciplines in the preparation of responses to the coroner; participate in case conferences with other professionals in areas of responsibility (coroners court); and support continuous improvement to the coronial portfolio processes and associated practice considerations for Child Protection.
  • Manage and/or support projects relating to the coronial portfolio and OPP Strategic Plan to meet departmental objectives including:
    • Leading research, analysis and implementation of complex projects based on defined outcomes and outputs.
    • Managing and overseeing projects or sub-projects and being accountable for the successful delivery and completion of the projects/sub-projects within resourcing, timeline, and budget parameters.
    • Monitoring and evaluating projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
  • Where responsible for overseeing, monitoring, or delivering projects, ensure they are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.
