About the Region

Schools and Regional Services (SRS) provides central, regional and local expertise, and support critical to driving improved learning and development outcomes. With a diverse workforce, covering a vast range of functions, and geographically spread, SRS has a clear role to deliver better outcomes at the frontline where education, health and development professionals impact children and young people.

Regions provide an interface between the department's central office, schools and service providers, ensuring that learners move seamlessly through the education system and achieve better outcomes and met the department's ambitious Education State targets. Regions also inform policy and program design and implementation. Each region has a School Improvement Division and an Early Childhood and School Support Division which provide region-wide expertise in school improvement and early childhood. These divisions work with area-based teams to support local interventions, practice, and implementation.

About the Role

The position is ongoing part-time 0.9 FTE.

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced officer to fill the role of Senior Wellbeing and Engagement Officer located in the Sale or Bairnsdale office (negotiable) with responsibility for the Outer Gippsland Area. The successful applicant will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to develop network strategies and broker local partnerships to address the needs of children, particularly vulnerable and disengaged children and young people.

Key aspects of the role include taking a lead in school referrals for attendance and contributing to improving school attendance across the Outer Gippsland Area, to support the implementation of the Partnering Agreement for Children and Young people in Out of Home Care, this includes building strong relationships with a range of stakeholders within the school community and external agencies.


To be successful in this role you will have a strong knowledge and understanding of the working of schools in relation to the wellbeing and engagement of children and young people. You will also require well developed people skills and an ability to work flexibly to support a broadly focussed multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field such as education, health, or social work.
