Our Adult Intensive Care Services team operates across three sites: a tertiary level service at Monash Medical Centre (MMC) Clayton, and services at Dandenong and Casey Hospitals.  Having recently commissioned the ICU service at Casey, we are now looking to consolidate the three ICU services to create a single Monash Health Adult Intensive Care Service.

As a consequence, we are excited to announce a new role, Service Director Adult Intensive Care Services, to lead the creation and development of an integrated service model to achieve consistent clinical service delivery and practice across the sites.

 This role will be appointed on a full time, permanent basis.

 About the Role

Reporting to the Program Director, Specialty Medicine, Cancer and Critical Care, this is a senior medical leadership role, accountable for the clinical and operational performance of Adult Intensive Care Services across the organisation.  The leadership team supporting the Service Director role includes a Director Intensive Care at each of MMC Clayton, Dandenong and Casey Hospitals.  An equivalent role will be created at the Victorian Heart Hospital, which is due for commissioning in early 2023.  This role will also report to the Service Director role.

This is a key leadership role, providing the successful applicant with the opportunity to achieve consistency of clinical practice, clinical governance, education and quality and safety both within across the Service.  In addition, there is a real opportunity to further realise the research potential offered by the size and scope of our Intensive Care Services.

Your performance will be assessed in line several key result areas, including:

  • Demonstrated clinical leadership through active involvement in patient care;

  • Support for and involvement in research, academic education, training and supervision;

  • Effective leadership of and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team;

  • Support for and implementation of new models of care to deliver streamlined and enhanced access to services, and coordinated services delivery; and

  • Contribution to ongoing service improvement and clinical and workforce innovation.

In addition, the successful applicant will participate in our on-call roster.

About You

As a skilled Intensivist, you are passionate about the contribution you and your team can make to the health outcomes of our very unwell patients.  You have substantial experience as a specialist in a major teaching hospital and a sound knowledge of both current medical workforce and medico-legal issues associated with clinical care.

Your working style is consultative and highly collaborative and you can demonstrate a track record of effective people leadership and change management skills.  With a keen interest in research, you actively promote its value in furthering clinical practice.

On a personal level, you are highly ethical and uncompromising in your commitment to delivering excellent patient care.  Leading by example, you inspire your team to be the best they can be every day.  Above all, you are looking for a new challenge which offers you the chance to showcase your innovative approach and ability to identify and implement new models of care where they are warranted.

Benefits of working with us include salary packaging options, discounted banking services, subsided car parking, access to a range of professional development activities to support your growth as a leader and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Program.
