About the Opportunity


An exciting opportunity exists at Monash Health for Social Workers interested in joining the casual bank.  We are a busy and dynamic team who assist patients and families by providing a professional service for patients referred across the inpatient and outpatient setting. Our Social Work service includes delivery to Acute Health, Mental Health, Aged and Rehabilitation or Continuing Care services in community and people’s homes.  The successful applicants will have the opportunity to accept available shifts (and at times short term contracts) across all sites and be part of a busy, energetic and friendly Allied Health team.

About You


You are a qualified and experienced Social Worker with a strong focus on patient centred care.  Through your hard working and enthusiastic nature you have the ability to adapt to changing settings and work shifts that suit your lifestyle. You will have sound skills in organisation, time management, and discharge planning, written and verbal communication. Your key responsibilities will include:



  • Problem solving for individual patients

  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers, showing flexibility and adaptability in a multidisciplinary setting


What you need to have


To be considered for this important role you will ideally possess the following:



  • An AASW accredited Bachelor degree or entry level Master’s Degree of Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a Healthcare setting

  • Good organisational skills and a positive, enthusiastic attitude towards work

  • Experience in working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities

  • Able to work autonomously

  • A friendly, outgoing and reliable demeanour

  • Well-developed clinical assessment and complex discharge planning skills 

  • A current Victorian drivers licence

Monash Health Bureau (MHB) is an efficient workforce unit that allocates over 450 shifts per day across Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Kingston Centre and Monash Children’s.  We deliver experienced clinical support staff to meet the demands of a multi specialised and fast growing organisation.
