  • Exciting opportunity for an early career social work role in our expanding acute youth inpatient service



Your new team



  • Orygen Specialist Program provides mental health services to young people aged 15-25 and their families/carers in Melbourne's northwest and western suburbs.

  • Our Inpatient Unit includes a 16-bed low dependency area and a 6-bed targeted specialised service delivery area for youth with complex mental and psychosocial needs.



Your new role:



  • Provide Social Work specific interventions within the IPU while providing a discipline specific lens to the multidisciplinary team

  • Provide comprehensive clinical acute mental health care to young people and families/carers of the Orygen Inpatient Unit.

  • Provide key interventions including psychosocial assessment, family-based interventions, group interventions and advocacy.

  • Demonstrate high standards of clinical care that are responsive to the young person’s developmental stage

  • Provide inclusive and sensitive practice to young people and their families/carers from Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander, CALD and LGBTQIA backgrounds



 About You:



  • Social work qualifications and AHPRA accreditation (desirable)

  • Demonstrated experience in case management and provision of acute care with young people from a range of backgrounds and diagnoses

  • Highly capapable of risk assessment, mental state assessment, psychoeducation related to illness, care coordination, and partnering with young people and families/carers

  • Knowledge of mental health system of care, the common mental health and substance use issues faced by young people
