Child Link, is an IT enabler to integrate data across government services to provide a consolidated view of information about children. Child Link is a new and innovative system within the government that has been built on best-in-class technology, incorporating a Master Data Management (MDM) platform and cloud-based services. Child Link displays a thin layer of factual information about a child, along with limited but critical information, such as a child's participation in key early childhood and education services to authorised key professionals who have responsibility for child wellbeing and safety.

About the Role:

The Child Link Support Officer will be responsible for providing end to end user support and administration for Child Link. They will be providing support to users and stakeholders both internal and external to the Department of Education and Training. You will join a newly created technology operations team that has been established to support, enhance and maintain Child Link within DET.

The Child Link Support Officer's key activities will include;

  • Help desk support - answering support calls from users and processing support requests
  • Providing consultation, troubleshooting and advisory service to system users
  • Logging and maintaining support requests to ensure all requests for support including incidents are dealt with according to agreed standards and procedures
  • Investigation and resolution of issues, system modifications, updating documentation and defining enhancements
  • System monitoring with real-time monitoring tools (Splunk)
  • Contribute to the development of system documentation, processes and knowledge base
  • Assist in system analysis and testing activities
  • Manage access to the system
  • Produce system reports and data for stakeholders
  • Help improve business processes, reporting and monitoring


You have experience in providing application support and dealing with system end users.

  • Experience with debugging and testing
  • Experience with SQL database querying
  • Service desk management tools such as Service Now
  • IIS Web Applications


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology
  • Experience in supporting identity management services such as Azure B2C, Okta, AWS IAM 
  • Experience in using Jira and Confluence
  • ITIL certification
