About us

Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) is a part of the Service Delivery Reform, Coordination and Workplace Safety Division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety.

It is responsible for coordinating a suite of services for victims of crime including funding state-wide services to provide eligible victims with practical assistance, counselling and support through the justice system as well as operating the Victims of Crime Helpline (Helpline).

About the role

As the Victim Support Officer (Casual), you will be responsible for:

  • act as a first point of contact for enquiries to the Victims of Crime Helpline
  • provide advice, support and information about victim services and entitlements, and referrals to other services
  • operating case-management systems and other databases
  • completing administration tasks associated with the provision of services by the Helpline.

A Victim Support Officer is required to work flexibly over shifts between 7am to 11pm across 7 days per week, including weekends and public holidays.

About you

As the Victim Support Officer (Casual), you will possess:

  • an understanding of the victim support service system and associated legislation
  • experience in direct human service delivery where there are sensitive and complex situations
  • an ability to multi-task and prioritise.

Keys to your success will be your highly developed problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deliver high quality services in a timely manner.
