Are you a ‘self-starter’ with exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, leadership and project management skills?

The Victorian Ombudsman (VO) is currently seeking applications from energetic and organised strategic thinkers. The role of Principal Officer, Complaints Strategy requires deep and progressive understanding, skills and experience in modern-day complaint handling and significant experience in effectively engaging with internal and external stakeholders using data to generate and harness strategic resolution of complaints.

  • VPS 6.1 $124,033 - $145,009per annum plus 10% employer superannuation contribution

We're the Victorian Ombudsman. Our office provides a free, independent, accessible and impartial service to all Victorians. Our purpose is to ensure fairness for Victorians in their dealings with the public sector, to improve public administration and to foster confidence in the integrity of the sector.

You will bring to this opportunity a mix of experience in:

  • Complaint management, review and innovative and constructive resolution of disputes.
  • Analytic and problem-solving capability, including demonstrating lateral thinking, strategic thinking and initiative in developing solutions, using data to drive operational improvement.
  • Project management skills with the ability to effectively lead, manage and mentor a team of high performing staff and achieve work plans and priorities.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with a proven record of producing reports in relation to complex matters.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability toinfluence and negotiate  with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders on sensitive and complex matters.
  • Sound knowledge of the Victorian public sector and a familiarity with legislation, or a demonstrated ability and experience to acquire such knowledge. 
  • Formal qualifications in law, government, social sciences or a related discipline.
