Position Summary: 

The Workforce Planning Manager works closely with their designated functional area to build internal relationships, analyse and respond to changing workforce needs to deliver exceptional rostering outcomes in line with the COVID 19 System, Service and Implementation Stream's vision and purpose. The Manager works closely with Corporate functions to provide  strategic planning and management support, as well as undertake special projects as required. This role reports to the Workforce Coordination and Rostering Manager.


Team Management and Leadership

  • Lead and manage staff in the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely staff rosters for the designated functional area 
  • Support staff with their professional development and stakeholder relationship building
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrating attention to detail and accountability for your work and that of your team.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adapt to the needs of the changing COVID 19 response environment
  • Take responsibility and accountability for your teams performance and approach

Workforce and Organisational Planning

  • Identify and respond to new and emerging strategic issues impacting workforce planning and rostering for the functional area 
  • Work with other Workforce Planning Managers to identify, track and analyse key workforce metrics for ad hoc reporting purposes and performance tracking
  • Lead the implementation of endorsed rostering principles, business rules and practices
  • Develop and lead business processes (including the workforce and rostering cycle) that enables and meets the needs of the functional area, in line with the reference materials.
  • Work with the designated functional area to analyse, support and effectively plan for their changing workforce needs.
  • Support continuous improvement in the business performance of rostering services.
  • Support organisational and process design as needed.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert for the business needs and requirements for your designated functional area

Stakeholder Engagement and Negotiation

  • Identify, engage and negotiate with stakeholders including: senior executives, HR, Payroll, workforce deployment, Industrial relations, CPSU and other workforce unions, business managers and the broader corporate and logistics functions
  • Identify, understand and resolve new and emerging issues proactively
  • Advise senior stakeholders on issues and solutions.
  • Anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Support stakeholders through process changes.
  • Represent Rostering with stakeholders, and effectively manage feedback.
  • Provide excellent rostering service s to our functional area(s) through a customer focused lens
