About the Role

 

This is a Fixed Full Time Position until 31 December 2025

In this role you will lead a crew of road workers delivering bituminous spray sealing, line marking and road maintenance activities. You will supervise the use of a range of different equipment in line with approved processes and in accordance with established safety, environmental and quality procedures.

You will work with the Team Leader – Line Marking to develop delivery strategy, establish required contracts, monitor finances and associated business processes required to meet the delivery needs.

After hours Emergency response capabilities and overtime are requirements of this role, and opportunities may be available to travel within the state to assist with broader Emergency responses.

Whilst this role is primarily based in the Benalla Region at Samaria Road Depot, you may be occasionally required to work from other locations across the state of Victoria based on the operational needs of the broader SRS business.

The standard hours for this position are 7.30am to 4.00pm, however you may be required to undertake out of standard hours shifts as part of a regular pattern or roster cycle Saturday, Sunday, Public Holiday, and/or afternoon/night shifts. This may include occasional overnight travel.

Key Selection Criteria

 

The Department of Transport and Planning is looking for a Works Supervisor – Line Marking to lead the delivery of line marking projects, ensuring safe and efficient operations. This role involves managing routine maintenance, conducting inspections of roads and structures, and operating plant equipment in accordance with Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) and safety procedures. You will prioritize tasks based on urgency and maintain accurate project records.

As a Works Supervisor, you will apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve issues, following policies and guidelines. When needed, you will seek guidance from your supervisor to ensure tasks are completed effectively. You will also contribute to continuous improvement by sharing ideas to enhance work processes and maintaining quality outcomes under time pressure.

A key aspect of the role is ensuring compliance with safety policies such as DOT OH&S, Safe Operating Procedures, and TMPs. You will support team development by sharing knowledge, providing feedback, and helping identify areas for growth within the team.

Qualifications and Experience

 

Mandatory

  • Current Victorian Drivers licence
  • Current Medium Rigid truck licence
  • Civil Construction Safety Induction Card, Traffic Management Ticket, 1st Aid certificate and HR licence.
  • Construction Induction White Card
  • Working knowledge of computer tablets / mobile devices.
  • Ordinary Hours of Work – This position may require rostered work to be undertaken which will include as part of a regular pattern or roster cycle Saturday, Sunday, Public Holiday, and/or afternoon/night shifts.
  • After hours Emergency response availability and overtime are requirements of this role and opportunities may be available to travel within the state to assist with the states broader Emergency response
  • Whilst this role is based in your home location, you may be occasionally required to work from other locations across the state of Victoria based on the operational needs of the broader SRS business.

 

 

Desirable

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction
  • Understanding of Asset Maintenance Management Systems
