Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services, including maternity, palliative care, mental health, drug and alcohol, residential care, community health and statewide specialist services  to people and communities that are diverse in culture, age, socio-economic status, population and healthcare needs.

About the Role

Eastern Health CYMHS is a specialist mental health service for children and young people up to the age of 25 years who are displaying symptoms of psychiatric disorder or severe emotional and behavioural disturbance, and provides a comprehensive range of assessment and treatment services within a recovery framework across the Eastern region of Melburne.

Eastern Health CYMHS has been successful in the Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network’s (EMPHN) tender to provide a Youth Severe Mental Health Service – operating as the Youth Engagement and Treatment Team Initiative (YETTI) - across both the Eastern metropolitan and parts of the North East region of Melbourne.

YETTI consists of three multidisciplinary teams providing an outreach clinical service, case management and evidence based therapeutic interventions to young people aged 12 - 25 years and their families/carers in primary health; presenting with symptoms that place them at ultra-high risk of developing a severe mental illness.

YETTI co-locates with a number of community service providers and routine travel will be required.

As the successful candidate you will have a demonstrated capacity to flexibly engage with young people within an outreach model, providing assessment, case management and evidence based therapeutic interventions to promote young people’s mental health and wellbeing.

You will also have the capacity to develop strong linkages with key stakeholders including primary health, headspace centres and community health services to provide primary and secondary consultations, and to identify young people at ultra-high risk of developing a severe mental illness.
