The Commission is an independent statutory body that promotes improvement in policies and practices affecting the safety and wellbeing of Victorian children and young people. It has a particular focus on vulnerable children and young people. The Commission is also the regulator for the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Scheme. The Youth Engagement Project Officer reports to the Senior Youth Engagement Officer. The Officer's work focuses on ensuring views and lived experiences of children and young people are sought, heard and acted on. The role works with children and young people from a range of backgrounds and experiences (including the Commission's Youth Council) and across the Commission to facilitate opportunities for children and young people to be involved in and influence the work of the Commission.
This is a special measures role and only people aged between 18 to 25 years are eligible to apply, as per the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
